FNM S.p.a ospita Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo

The work, carved from Candoglia marble, represents a male figure holding a book, an attribute usually reserved for Saints or Prophets. The head is covered by a mantle, it wears sandals, and has a long beard. The author is not confirmed, but stylistically, the work can be attributed to the mid-15th century. The statue was exhibited in Munich in 1976 during the exhibition “Exempla 76. Artigianato e ecologia”, as a testament to the ongoing commitment of the Veneranda Fabbrica in the restoration work of the Cathedral. The sculpture was presented to the public in a dilapidated condition and "adorned" with a curious detail: a real pigeon nest atop the book.
