Puppets Jazz!

The display case presents all the marionettes featured in the show “Puppets Jazz!”, conceived and performed by Enrico Intra with the marionettes of the Carlo Colla & Figli Company (and more). The arrangement brings together some of the most iconic figures in the history of jazz—from Charlie Parker to John Coltrane, from Louis Armstrong to Duke Ellington, along with Miles Davis and Enrico Rava—flanked by the marionette representing Intra himself. Completing the composition are the rhythm trio and the illuminated “Puppets Jazz!” sign, all set against the backdrop of the Milan skyline, the city in which our marionette tradition has deep roots.

The work was selected for its strong iconographic and cultural value: it represents the meeting of two performance languages that have shaped the history of Milanese entertainment—jazz music and the art of puppetry. The marionettes, crafted with the artisanal precision characteristic of the Carlo Colla & Figli Company, convey the stage presence of jazz’s great protagonists while maintaining a unique poetic and theatrical character.

Only the display case is visible: it's always lit 24/7.
Access is by guided tour only, during the times and days indicated for visits to the artisan workshops, for more information write to: info@marionettecolla.org
