Art Installation - Mixed media

The betting slip, an iconic symbol of a popular phenomenon that has characterized Italian customs and history, becomes a work of art.
A spectrum of colors, numbers, and images reflecting four decades of Sisal's history. "Halo" is an artistic installation composed of 2,500 betting slips produced between 1946 and 1989. At the center, an empty space to fill by imagining possible futures.
The work, created in 2022 for the inauguration of the company’s new Milan headquarters, opens the visitor route of the Sisal Diffused Museum.
The work narrates a unique cultural phenomenon, born from a simple object like the betting slip. Designed to support the recovery of Italian sports in the post-war period through its proceeds, it soon became an icon and a symbol of shared sporting passion. The phenomenon of the betting slip—from football prediction contests to horse racing—was such that Massimo Della Pergola, inventor of the 1X2 and founder of Sisal along with Geo Molo and Fabio Jegher, came to define it as “Sisalism.”
This is why the work resonates with this year’s theme, the enterprises of culture: because it tells both of the enterprise as a company, capable of generating culture through a simple idea, and of the enterprise as a visionary and complex action, capable of transforming an everyday object into a shared heritage of Italian society.
