Il Gigante e l'Obelisco

The Giant and the Obelisk is one of the most interesting sculptures within the production of Rodolfo Monaco (Nettuno, 1929 - Milan, 2021); it is the result of a long and laborious process that represented a true "enterprise" for the artist. In the work, made entirely of clay, a giant man embraces or supports an obelisk, possibly holding it up and saving it from a potential fall. However, it is also possible that the obelisk comforts and "supports" the giant. The work was recently restored to stabilize it and restore the sculpture to its original splendor.
