NoMus participates in Museo Segreto by presenting a rare and valuable work: The Solitudes of the Sea, an unfinished piece born from the artistic encounter between Riccardo Bacchelli and Bruno Bettinelli. The project, conceived at the end of the 1950s, combines the poetic density of Bacchelli's text with Bettinelli's musical research, who was then in a phase of intense linguistic experimentation. The work remained in draft form but retains extraordinary evocative power: musical fragments and pages of text that testify to a creative dialogue interrupted but still vibrant. NoMus's presentation aims to give voice to this unpublished material, offering the public a rare opportunity to approach a little-known chapter of Italian musical culture. In Museo Segreto, the unfinished becomes revelation, and the distance of time transforms into a current and necessary listening experience.
The chosen work demonstrates how making culture is a challenging enterprise: sometimes, one cannot even finish the project, and sometimes one gets lost even before starting.
Why weren’t The Solitudes of the Sea set to music by Bruno Bettinelli? We will seek to investigate this together with composer Silvia Bettinelli Bianchera and musicologist Marina Vaccarini.
