1976
acrylic on canvas

For the 2026 edition of Museo Segreto, we present a work created in acrylic on canvas by Paolo Ghilardi in 1976, themed around permutations on a square. The work embodies all the guiding principles of Ghilardi's research starting from the 1970s, which can be summarized as the use of COLOR, GEOMETRY, and ABSTRACTION.
Here, a fraction of the square depicted on the canvas on the right side lowers, sliding down and into the square, and the overlapping parts are painted with new colors. The exploration of colors present in the work was particularly significant for Ghilardi, a professor at the Academy of Carrara in Bergamo specializing in Color Theory.
