matte white acrylic on board with extroflessions

For Museo Segreto 2026, we present a small relief—30 x 30 cm—on board created by Alberto Zilocchi in matte white acrylic and geometric extroflessions that create lines of light and shadow, voids and solids, on the surface of the board.
The extroflessions rise a few millimeters and then gradually fade and disappear on the surface, being of the same size and shape but inverted on both sides of the board in a perfect play of symmetry.
Zilocchi's relief fits into the context that from the late 1950s onwards led some Italian artists to propose a new avant-garde painting using light, monochromy, new materials, and the use of white and monochromy as a resetting of painting. The entire European culture experienced this profound change in art, whose endeavor consists of overcoming traditional schemes.
