The Caligraph was the first typewriter produced in Ilion, N.Y., in series, composed of 72 keys in six rows (26 keys for uppercase and 46 keys for lowercase and symbols); it features "blind" writing, meaning it is unreadable and unerasable. Its patent was later sold to Remington, which, with some modifications, became the "world leader" in typewriter production by the end of the 19th century.
