Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers

The exhibition Il valore della misura. Un viaggio alla scoperta della metrologia (The Value of Measurement: A Journey to Discover Metrology), which opened in January 2025 at the Milan Monza Brianza Lodi Chamber of Commerce, has been enriched with three precious volumes of the Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers (1751-1772) by French philosopher Denis Diderot.

This secret treasure of the Milan Chamber of Commerce is truly unique to the city, highlighting the importance of metrology and the metric inspector, a key figure since the 18th century.

The exhibition offers an unmissable opportunity to deepen your knowledge of legal metrology and to appreciate the history of measurement and related technical professions, a history deeply linked to the daily lives of us all.
