illy Art Collection

Open Monday to Sunday, 8-21 hrs.

Saturday and Sunday, 9-21 hrs.

For illycaffè, contemporary art and its aesthetic component adds value to taste. The beauty that illycaffè seeks to achieve is inspired by the ancient Greek concept of kalokagathìa, which combines kalòs (beautiful) and agathòs (good) to create a new meaning in which beauty and goodness depend on each other.

The illy Art Collection cups are a tangible expression of this concept. The project, launched in 1992, transformed an everyday object such as a cup of coffee into a blank canvas, inviting contemporary artists to express their creativity on the cup designed by Matteo Thun for illy. Over the years, this canvas has hosted the works of over 130 internationally renowned artists.

Those who savor an illy espresso in an artist's cup associate, in the same gesture, the aroma of the blend with the aesthetic experience of contemporary art.

Drawings from some of the most important artist collections are displayed in the windows of the illy store in Monte Napoleone.
